Chisholms of Ayr - Our Story

It all started over a glass (or 2ish) of wine at Christmas 2002, when cousins Sheila Shedden & Paula Meijers ( the Chisholm girls) were discussing local foods and suppliers and the lack of an independent shops in the area.

"Ayrshire produces excellent fresh foods"

Ayrshire produces excellent fresh foods which are nor readily accessible to the public except on the one day in month - the Local Farmers Market, so the idea was spawned - a DELI.

Chisholms open its doors in May 2003, only 4 months after a chance conversation through an alcoholic haze!

We pride ourselves in giving our customers personal attention and since opening have attracted many regular customers who are now friends. Some of our elderly clientele have become surrogate aunties and we do a good line in social work and health advice - they love to buy 2 eggs and slice of roast beef or a mini jar of preserve, no order is too small.

"No order is too small"

As we are a seaside town we meet lots of people from Ireland, Europe and the States who love to browse in the shop for goodies to take home. Personal attention is much appreciated by visitors and they enjoy the banter and chat.

So that's us - the Chisholms girls- we feel we have made a small impact on AYR, giving the consumer good food, providing first class service and a bit of old fashioned customer care and personal attention.

"first class service and old fashioned customer care"

We work very hard and laugh a lot - we're no spring chickens you know - but we love our business and are proud of our achievements.

Please browse through our web pages and we'd love to hear from you if you are so moved.
